About Nithin Kamath

Nithin Kamath, Co-Founder and now leads as CEO of Zerodha, also heads the Rainmatter Foundation, it is a non-profit initiative focused on environmental sustainability. He is older of the two brothers, Nithin is an alumnus of the Bangalore Institute of Technology.
After finishing his studies, Nithin Kamath started his career as a Proprietary Trader. He later worked as a Senior Telesales Executive at Manipal Infocom and also served as a Partner at Kamath Associates. Eventually, he teamed up with his younger brother, Nikhil Kamath, and decided to co-found Zerodha.
About Nikhil Kamath

Nikhil Kamath is the younger of the two Kamath brothers. he is the Co-Founder of Zerodha and also the Co-Founder of the True Beacon, an asset management company catering to high net worth individuals.
Always interested in trading, Nikhil Kamath began his journey by selling used cellphones in the 10th grade. At 17, he dropped out of school and joined a call center; he also started trading in equities at the same time. He started managing money from his friends and colleagues, gaining first-hand experience in asset management.
Later, he quit his call center and collaborated with his brother in auto trading; as a result, they founded Zerodha. He is known for his sharp trader. Nikhil now manages the prop trading desk, risk management, and all trading-related operations.
Idea Behind Zerodha
Nithin Kamath, the founder and CEO of Zerodha, started his trading journey in the Indian stock market at the age of 17. While pursuing his engineering degree, he started learning trading, which eventually forced him to take up a job at the call center, so he could manage funds for trading. At night he does a job in the call center and during the daytime he do trading.
Although Nithin earned some money by trading in stocks, he suffered heavy losses during the stock market crash of 2001-02. However, he received a cheque from a foreign HNI to manage his investment, while he also joined Reliance Money as a sub-broker.
During the 2008-09 global financial crisis, Nithin suffered heavy losses. After this, he decided to do something different, and then he decided to build online stockbroking services for the traders in the country.
